SAFFRON Walden Quakers will once again be hosting a series of open evenings in October following the success of last year’s event, Quaker Quest.
The event is part of an ongoing, nationwide initiative to make the Quaker community more accessible to the wider public.
Paul Parker, who has been a Quaker for many years, said: “Quakers today are vibrant, forward-thinking and socially engaged. Saffron Walden meeting reflects this, embracing people from all walks of life and all age groups, including children.”
The four evening sessions offer a chance to explore spiritual and secular topics from a Quaker perspective. There will be spoken contributions from local Quakers, the opportunity for discussion, and a chance to experience a short period of worship.
This year’s sessions are themed as follows:
Quakers and God: Friday October 1
Quakers and Conflict: Friday Oct 8
Quakers and Equality: Friday Oct 15
Quakers and Seeking: Friday Oct 22
The Quaker Quest sessions take place on Friday evenings, starting at 7.30. A light supper of homemade soup and bread is available from 7pm, with coffee and cake being served at the end of the evening.
