SAFFRON Walden’s Late Night Christmas Shopping event held in the town on Friday has been branded as a great success - with the highest ever attendance.
The event, now in its ninth year, was organised by Saffron Walden Initiative. Chairman Peter Riding said: “By any measure this year’s Late Night Christmas Shopping was a success.
“The number of people attending was the highest yet, the atmosphere was brilliant and the 29 charity stalls did good business. Special mention should be made of the three charity stalls run by students at the County High School and also the excellent range of market stalls and the Christmas Gift Fair in the Town Hall.”
The Pure Sax Band from the County High provided live music, Saffron Walden Musical Theatre Company supplied the carol singing and the town’s Round Table arrived in style with Father Christmas and his sleigh. There were also two roving street entertainers on hand.
“Special thanks are due to the town council staff, local police and the Tourist Information Centre which dealt with the stall bookings beforehand,” added Mr Riding.
