THE 21st annual Michaelmas Fayre takes place in Saffron Walden this Saturday – and it promises to be an action-packed family fun day out.

THE 21st annual Michaelmas Fayre takes place in Saffron Walden this Saturday – and it promises to be an action-packed family fun day out.

Organised by community service group, the Saffron Walden Lions and Lionesses, the event draws crowds from far and wide with its extensive range of stalls, entertainment and fun.

Walden in Transition will be showcasing local food producers with demonstrations of how to grow your own food in small spaces. The Food4Thought event is being held on the Common from 9am.

Stall holders include Honeyhouse, Saffron Brewery, Stonebridge Farms, Walden Local Food and Wobbly Bottom Farm. They will have produce on sale that will show the diversity and quality of local food and will include honey, beer, cakes and jams, fruit and vegetables and cheeses.

Saffron Walden Allotments and Leisure Gardeners Association will be in attendance to tell people about the advantages of allotment gardening and signing up new members.

Other entertainment on the day includes belly dancers, face painting, clown, quad bikes and many inflatable attractions.

There will be a large craft fair at the Town Hall from 9am to 4pm. On display and for sale will be many original and unusual gift ideas, all of which offer great quality and superb value. Admission is free.

The Court Room caf� is open all day, where tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks are available.

Also part of the fair is the fantastic sound of the Blues Bros QED in the town hall. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets cost �10 or �7 for concessions.
