A FOOD collection point to assist needy families in and around Saffron Walden has been set up in a superstore.
The Salvation Army, whose motto is ‘Heart to God and hand to man’, provide food parcels for needy families and individuals in the area.
Now the organisation has launched a collection point at Tesco on Radwinter Road this week and shoppers will be asked to donate tinned food items or dried goods for the cause.
Captain Carol Baker, minister of the Salvation Army Saffron Walden corps, said: “We are really grateful to Tesco for agreeing to do this. This will be such a valuable help and will build our resources in order for us to provide much-needed help to local people in these days of benefit changes which will affect many.
“The Salvation Army endeavours to fulfil its mission in this by providing practical support to those in need.”
