Harvest Festival celebrations were underway at Friends' School on Friday, with pupils from nursery to sixth form contributing to a number of good causes and charities.

The senior school collected items for Jimmy’s Night Shelter in Cambridge, a cause the school already supports on a weekly basis with fresh baking, and sent three car loads of food. Teachers got in on the act and raised money with their ‘bake a cake for break’ sale, while students donated at least £1 to wear non-uniform. All money raised will go to the Alex Ruffell Memorial Fund which supports a school in Chidobe, Zimbabwe.

Anna Chaudhri, head of Friends’ School, said: “We are so very pleased to support the Fund and to also keep our strong link going with Jimmy’s Cambridge, two very worthy causes that our students are proud to be part of.”

Nursery and junior school pupils held a special concert for visitors from Highfield Care Home and donated a vast array of luxury items, which were split between Highfield and Stanley Wilson Lodge retirement homes.
