Saffron Walden Explorers will join thousands of fellow scouts for a jamboree in Japan this summer.
The Saffron Walden County High students are some of 40,000 scouts who will convene on the three-week trip to Yamaguchi, Japan.
As well as the jamboree with Explorers from across the world, they will also learn about cultural norms by staying with host families.
The Explorers raised more than £2,700 through events including a sponsored walk, quiz night and cake stalls, an amount matched by the town’s Santander branch, and presented by branch manager Daniel Frost to the Explorers last week.
Remaining funds will be spent on Duke of Edinburgh Awards. There are currently 80 Explorers enrolled in Uttlesford.
