The inaugural Mark Hoare Awards were presented at the 5th Saffron Walden Scout Group’s AGM.

Created in memory of the late Mark Hoare who was chairman of the group and Saffron Walden District Scouts, they were presented by his wife Marion. The group’s scout leader Nigel Bailey said: “We wanted to create an award in Mark’s memory that recognised his gifts and talents, including his helpfulness and welcoming character and his embodiment of scouting values.”

There is an award for each section of the group and in its debut year was won by Chay Flynn for the Scouts, Kitty Tilston, Cubs, and Daniel Russell, Beavers.
