THE mayor of Saffron Walden was joined by MP Sir Alan Haselhurst and employees at Waitrose for the unveiling of six new trees planted to commemorate the supermarket’s 75th anniversary.

Cllr Keith Eden toasted a glass of champagne with store manager Malcolm Dome in Jubilee Gardens, where two mountain ash trees, one Midland Hawthorn and three Rowans were planted to benefit the community in years to come.

It is recognition of Waitrose’s 75 years in partnership and saw trees planted in the local community of every Waitrose store in the country.

“I’m delighted we as a town can accept these gifts,” Cllr Eden said.
