Hundreds of people gathered in Saffron Walden’s market square on Sunday to see the town’s Christmas lights being switched on.

The town hosted an all-day Christmas street market, a screening of Frozen in the town hall and live music.

Father Christmas was in his grotto outside the Tourist Information Centre ready to meet and greet all the children of the town and Hovis the much-loved Audley End House horse paid a visit during the afternoon.

The highlight of the day was the turning on of the Christmas lights by the Mayor of Saffron Walden, Councillor Paul Fairhurst, Father Christmas and his team of elves.
