Pupils at Friends’ School in Saffron Walden put their literary knowledge to the test when they took part in a world record attempt on Monday (February 22).
Year 9 students took on The Bumper Book Quiz, which was held in schools across the country, in a official attempt for the most people simultaneously taking part in book quizzes between 2pm and 3pm.
The Guinness World Record attempt was part of World Book Day, which takes place on March 3.
Gill Kinnear, head of English, said: “Taking part in the quiz was a great way to encourage children to discover, read and enjoy the wealth of teenage fiction which is available to them.
“In order to fulfil the world record criteria we needed two independent witnesses and a steward. Our thanks go to Pat Lodge from Volunteer Uttlesford, John Berry from The Rotary Club of Saffron Walden and Paul Gadd for admirably fulfilling these roles.”
