Year 7 and 8 students at Saffron Walden County High held a royal bake off on Friday, June 10.

In a first round, the youngsters had submitted designs and the best six were baked in school.

These were judged by the Mayor of Saffron Walden Councillor Sarfraz Anjum and headteacher Caroline Derbyshire.

There were joint winners – Hannah Bower from Year 7 and Charlotte Newling from Year 8. Their winning cakes will now be made professionally by the school’s canteen. They will be raffled and the proceeds given to charities of the winners’ choice.
