STUDENT John Wood took a brave step for Children in Need - volunteering to have his legs waxed in aid of the charity.

The Saffron Walden teenager, who studies Childcare and Education at Cambridge Regional College, was joined by fellow student Jack Stewart in submitting to the painful treatment.

Both lads put on a brave face – but admitted it was more painful than they expected when they had their legs waxed at the hands of students Kelly Scales and Charlotte Dawes.

“The girls said they have done this before but I don’t believe them,” said 17 year-old John – but said it was worth it to raise money for Children in Need.

The students also dressed up for the day to raise money for the charity, and collected donations around the College.

Lecturer Suzanne Clarke said she was absolutely delighted that the students – all on a one-year Childcare and Education programme and in her tutorial group – had put so much effort into helping Children in Need.

“I’m thrilled at how enthusiastic and motivated they have been in supporting this well-deserving charity,” she said.
