Two children’s charities have each been presented with a cheque for £500 by Tesco in Saffron Walden.

Home-Start Uttlesford helps families by sending volunteers into the home to offer support, friendship and practical help to stressed families with young children.

Accuro provides a range of specialist services for people of all ages with disabilities in West Essex. The charity prides itself on supporting not only individuals but also their families.

Community Champion Susie Diggons, who has worked for Tesco for 14 years and has been the store’s Community Champion for over three years, presented the cheques to Cath Read and Gemma Rich from Accuro and Christine Till and Maria Furlong from Home-Start Uttlesford.

Cath said: “We were absolutely delighted to receive the cheque and would like to thank Tesco for their support. We will be using the donation to take the children we help on two fun days out.”

Christine from Home-Start Uttlesford said: “We support many families in many different ways and £500 will provide 12 weeks of support for a family. We are extremely grateful for the donation from Tesco.”
