‘Saffron Walden: The Last 100 Million Years’ is an illustrated talk by Gerald Lucy starting at 8pm next Thursday (February 13) in St Mary’s Church Parish Room.
Mr Lucy is a local geologist and author of the popular book Essex Rock: A look beneath the Essex landscape. He will describe the evidence for Saffron Walden’s incredible journey through time from the hot ‘greenhouse’ earth at the time of the dinosaurs, to the intense cold of the most recent Ice Age.
The talk will be illustrated by fossils, many of which were found locally, and will be of particular interest to those with no previous knowledge of geology. £1 entry fee except for members of the Saffron Walden Initiative.
