A Saffron Walden theatre group has been nominated in the National Diversity Awards for the second year running.

HyperFusion Theatre Company, which is affiliated with schools including Saffron Walden County High and Helena Romanes in Great Dunmow, has been nominated for championing equality and diversity in the community.

The news comes after the company’s recent tour of BOY, which received acclaim from parliament for raising awareness about homophobic bullying.

One nominator wrote: “I’d like to nominate HyperFusion Theatre Company, run by Sarah Ellis, for the community organisation award.

“HyperFusion’s impact on the local community of Saffron Walden and the country as a whole sees her striving every day to champion diversity, educate about equality, to challenge deep seated preconceptions about race, gender, disability and sexuality which have no place in today’s society.”

Public voting for the awards is open until June 9, visit: nominate.nationaldiversityawards.co.uk.
