A new pocket-sized map, inviting tourists and locals alike to ‘Rediscover Saffron Walden’, has been produced in the run-up to the Carnival and forthcoming visit by the Tour de France.

The double A4 width map, which folds down to a handy credit card size, highlights the town’s many attractions and shops, as well as providing useful guidance on local car parking facilities.

Organised by the Saffron Walden Town Team, it has been paid for by local independent retailers with additional support from Uttlesford District Council.

Over 20,000 copies of the free map are widely available via shops, cafes, Tourist Information, town park-and-ride drop-off points and Audley End Station, among others.

Wendy Howell of Design Essentials and the Town Team said: “This was a wonderful example of the town’s retailers coming together to promote all that’s great about Saffron Walden. It’s joined-up thinking like this that is key to the future prosperity of our regional town centres. I’d particularly like to thank the following for their help in compiling the map: Richard Ketteridge, Gordon Ridgewell, Jude Cox, Gareth McMahon, Rob McCarthy, Andy Sivell, Uttlesford District Council and, of course, all of the businesses featured.”
