Sarah Yeung, 24, embarks on her adventure in South America to work in a partnership between Brighton-based charity Articulate and children at risk foundation ACER Brasil on Monday after months of fundraising to enable her to teach art workshops in one of the poorest areas in Brazil where she will put to work her back ground in mental health care.

Volunteering at mental health charities in London after graduating from university last year, Sarah knew she wanted to take her work further and has even sacrificed her hair to help fund her year participating in crucial community work.

Sarah has now raised around £6,200. She said: “My main challenge to fundraise all of this has been to shave my hair off for sponsors! I went into the fantastic Jiminy Snippets on March 28th and Aston shaved it all off for me! They were so kind and generous and the team were incredibly encouraging, donating the haircut to my cause.”
