Two Saffron Walden women pounded the streets of town every day in January to raise money for a mental health charity.

Mandy Weetch 38, of Hollyhock Road, and Caroline McMahon, 34, of Church Street, took part in Mind UK’s Red January, which challenged people to get out and run or walk every day of the month.

The two ladies clocked up more than 200 miles between them during January, and together have raised nearly £500 for Mind UK.

Mandy, who runs a music PR company, and Caroline, a research nurse at Addenbrooke’s, were regularly posting updates on social media during the challenge to keep family and friends informed of their progress.

Mandy said: “We became the running ladies of Saffron Walden and many people have commented on how they have seen us out and about.

“Mind UK is such a fantastic charity which offers such great support for those suffering with mental health issues.”
