SAINSBURY’S say they will “take stock” of the council’s decision before coming back to the table.

Development surveyor Michael Morris said: “We are naturally very disappointed that our application has been refused by the development control committee, especially as the decision was very close and required the chairman’s casting vote.

“We will now take stock of the committee’s comments before deciding what our next steps may be.”

He added: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who have made the effort to support us through the planning process, including at committee. Special mention must be given to Nicky Agar, whose grassroots SWANS campaign while juggling a busy family life has been incredibly supportive.“
