A SAFFRON Walden school's Country Fair proved to be a record-breaking success after raising over 4000 towards its coffers.

Hundreds of children and their families attended the RA Butler School's annual event.

With dance displays, children's five-a-side football tournament and lots of stalls, there was plenty to keep both children and parents entertained.

The pupils of the schools played a large part in the fair; many of them had grown plants to sell, and the older children ran stalls and games including beat the goalie, tattoo mania and crazy bowling.

Headteacher Gayle Mawson hailed it as the "best country fair ever!"

She added: "It was stunning, hugely enjoyable! There was wonderful entertainment from Calamity Clown, Hyperfusion, Ruth Taylor-Greene School of dance and the 5-a-side football.

"The weather was kind, and huge numbers of people came.
