THE search is on for the county's top apprentices and employers with the launch of a major award.

The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) is urging employers of all sizes and all sectors of industry across the East of England to enter the Apprenticeship Awards 2008.

Held annually, the awards celebrate the success of apprentices who have made a real difference to their future and to the organisation they work for.

LSC regional director, Caroline Neville said: "Apprenticeships are crucial in responding to the nation's skills shortage. They supply businesses with the skills they need for a secure future, stimulate innovation and bring with them a fresh boost of enthusiasm."

To enter the awards call 0800 9548896 or visit apprenticeships.org.uk/awards before February 29.
