Serious assault with baseball bat or lump of wood in Saffron Walden

Serious head injuries were inflicted on a man who was assaulted with a baseball bat or a lump of wood in Saffron Walden today (February 15).

One man attacked another in Radwinter Road at around 1.25am – the victim was in his 50s and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

Essex Police are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting incident 63 of 15/02, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

In other separate crime incidents, the back window of a black Volkswagen Golf, parked in Ashdon Road, Saffron Walden, was smashed between 8pm on February 5 and 7.38am on February 6.

An orange Kubota mini digger was stolen from a development site at Barnards Field in Thaxted between 4.30pm on February 3 and 8am on February 6.

It is worth £8,000 and it is believed thieves used a grabber as the vehicle was blocked in by other heavy equipment.
