A man was rushed to hospital in an air ambulance following a collision in Great Bardfield on Saturday.

Police and ambulance crews were called after a green Ford KA and a red Nissan Qashqai collided in Braintree Road shortly before 11.45am.

The driver of the KA, a man in his 20s, suffered serious head and internal injuries and was flown to hospital for treatment.

Four people inside the Qashqai were not seriously injured.

No-one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the incident, a spokesman for police said.

The spokesman added: “We believe a number of motorcyclists or cyclists helped at the scene and we need to speak to them to see if they have any information about the collision.

“We also believe there may be some photos of the collision or the moments after and we need to speak to anyone who has got images or footage as it may help us understand exactly what’s happened.

“If you saw or heard anything, have any dash cam footage or any other information please call us on 101 quoting incident 505 of February 23 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
