A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl has emerged triumphant from the dragons' den after securing a £5 book voucher.

Competition-winner Molly Bonnington Blatt claimed her prize after wowing the judges with her colourful dragon.

Molly entered the colour-the-dragon competition at Saffron Walden Library's Dragon's Party on August 18.

The Dragon's Party was part of Essex County Council Libraries' Summer Reading Challenge which took the theme of quest seekers and fantasy words.

A library spokesman said: "The idea of these events is to make reading fun and encourage children to continue reading through the holidays. It also helps to bring books to life."

Children entered the dragon's lair, prodded trolls' eyeballs and squeezed giants' fingers at the event held in the library on Saffron Walden Market Square.
