ART was brought to life for pupils of Wimbish Primary following a whole school trip to the Fitzwilliam in Cambridge.
During guided group sessions the eager students studied the painting La Place Clichy by Renoir,
The younger children were told the story of Camilie, a character in the painting, while the older children began some creative writing using the figures from Renoir’s masterpiece.
The painting is now going to be the stimulus for work back in school.
Class teacher Isabel Davey said: “It was fantastic to see the children so captivated and inspired by the art work. We are very grateful to Mrs Rainey and the Saffron Walden group of National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies who sponsored the visit by providing the coaches.”
