DAME Bradbury’s School building itself was covered in spots in support of Children In Need.
The children were all invited to pay �1 to “wear something spotty” but they decided that the school should go spotty as well. Everyone from year one to year six got the chance to paint a spot on one of three giant banners, on fabric generously donated by Janet Riley Fabrics of Saffron Walden.
The children’s excitement reached fever-pitch when the three banners were hoisted up the side of the building, filmed by a BBC East cameraman.
The overall total raised by the school by Monday (with money still rolling in) was �415.09.
Other fund-raising efforts during the day included a sponsored leaf-sweep, a Best-Dressed Teddy contest and a Name the Bear competition, all run by year five pupils, while year six pupil Harvey Redfern raised an impressive �69.80 with a highly popular sell-out ‘Sweet Stop’ sale.
