An IT glitch has resulted in delays at Standsted Airport last night (Wednesday).
Lengthy queues formed after a fault on UK Border Force computers at the airport as well as Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester.
Extra staff were called in to reduce the delays, which are said to have affected non-EU passengers in particular.
Stansted Airport apologised for the border delays via their Twitter account and said: βIT problems with UK Border Force systems are causing longer queues than normal tonight - please be patient, extra staff are on hand.β
The problem was reported to be affecting the customs desks as well as self-service e-Passport gates - which use facial recognition equipment to match a person with their passport.
