Stansted Airport workers create winter shelters for animals

Winter shelters for animals at Daisy May’s Farm in Elsenham have been built by volunteers from staff at Stansted Airport.
The group worked through Time Bank Uttlesford, which allows people and organisations to help each other by giving their time to carry out tasks.
Daisy May’s Farm is a working farm which rescues animals and also helps children with special needs. Alison Thomson, volunteer coordinator at the farm said: “We have been fundraising for six months to buy these shelters. The work done by the airport staff has been invaluable in providing protection for our rescue animals this winter. We are very grateful for their efforts.”
Two teams of Stansted staff worked on the project.
Kristin Young, airport duty manager, said: “It has been a fantastic team building exercise and we are delighted to help out and raise the profile of, Daisy May’s Farm.”
Pat Lodge of Volunteer Uttlesford said: “Time Bank isn’t only for businesses. If you have a few hours to help someone now and then, or would like a hand with things such as shopping, gardening or learning how to use your computer properly, please contact us.”
