Strong winds are causing problems forcing trains between Stansted Airport and Cambridge to be cancelled.

Storm Katie is causing overhead wire problems at Great Chesterford and the next train to London from Great Chesterford is the 11.34am. There are also delays on the line of up to 30 minutes.

An earlier power cut in Saffron Walden has been fixed by UK Power Networks as the area gets hit with gusts of wind.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of wind and rain, which is due to end at about 5pm today (Monday).

Littlebury Green is also affected by a water shortage after a power cut at the Saffron Walden main pumping station.

A spokesman for Affinity Water said: “Our team of technicians have successfully restored power to the main pumping station supplying the Saffron Walden area. Customers can now expect to see their water restored. However this may be at lower than normal water pressure until all supporting boosters at neighbouring sites have been restarted.

“Our technicians are en route to these additional sites now, and once power is fully restored to these other sites, we expect to see water pressure restore to normal.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this incident, and appreciate the continued patience of our customers during this time.”
