PIECES of art created by students from Saffron Walden County High School are being displayed at the town hall.

The exhibition was officially launched by Town Mayor Doug Perry on Monday and runs until today (Thursday).

Art student Hannah Bennett, 18, said: "This is our end-of-year show and it's been really successful. We've had positive feedback from people who have come to the exhibition and there have also been some offers to buy some of the pieces."

The show features art and photography from around 50 Year 13 students. The pieces were created over the course of two years on a verity of themes.

Headteacher John Hartley said: "The Town Hall art exhibition is one of the highlights of the summer term, providing as it does a wonderful opportunity to showcase some of the outstanding work produced by SWCHS students."

Organiser of the art show Nicola Gobbett said: "Once again, the work produced by the students is outstanding, imaginative and exciting. I am always inspired by the enthusiasm of the students and their personal responses to the disciplines within the arts.

"This year will be our first year of exhibiting A2 work from the photography course. This is an event which the whole art department and the students genuinely look forward to.
