Students at Essex school show good business acumen during Money Week

YOUNGSTERS at Henham and Ugley Primary School put their money where their mouth is during an enterprise fair.
As part of Money Week, the pupils got creative with cash – each class was given £10 at the beginning of the week and had to buy materials to make items to sell on.
That threw up some interesting designs and some even more interesting sales techniques.
Maths subject leader, Helen Coop, said: “I can’t believe how creative and involved the children have been during the week.
“They have come up with some really great ideas and just run with it, such as recording songs and making smoothies. One group created a cinema animation and then gave away bags of popcorn in with the entry price!”
She added: “This is the first time we have run this event and would happily do so again – it has covered so many areas of the curriculum, as well as promoting maths and financial awareness.”
With the profits left over each class was able to make a donation to the charity of their choice.
