A TRAINEE surgeon from Castle Camps has been suspended for one year by the General Medical Council after he lied to gain a Cambridge University fellowship.
Dr Matthew Williams-Gray, 29, said he was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons on his CV when he applied for the fellowship at Corpus Christi College in 2004.
Suspending him last Thursday, the chairman of the GMC's Fitness to Practice Panel, Iain Chisholm, told Dr Williams-Gray his sentence reflected the need for public confidence in the medical profession.
