STANSTED Airport received a surprise visit from members of Luxembourg’s Royal Family after their flight was diverted from London City Airport.

Prince Felix, Prince Louis and his wife Princess Tessy’s Luxair flight was transferred to Stansted on Saturday after bad weather caused the inbound aircraft to divert to Stansted.

Stansted staff, led by the airport’s customer service team manager Andy McPhee, leapt into action to ensure the unexpected guests had a hassle free journey through the airport.

“We met the cavalcade on the terminal forecourt and escorted the party through the check in process and onto their plane. They were all extremely friendly, relaxed and grateful for their effortless passage through Stansted,” said Andy.

The Royals were in London to meet with members of Team Luxembourg at the Olympic Village and attend a number of 2012 events.
