A MORNING of discovery and invention was on the timetable at Friends’ Junior School this week as they celebrated National Science and Engineering Week.

Children from Year 3 to 6 took part in a challenge to design and then construct a model sustainable house.

Kate Richardson, head of science at the junior school, said: “They investigated ways of reducing energy through building design, consumption by using the best insulation and harnessing natural energy with wind turbines and solar panels.

“Our Science Week task also required the children to cooperate and communicate with other members of their team, which they all did brilliantly.”
