A CHARITY cake stall managed by the school council at RA Butler Schools raised 200 in less than half an hour.

The the after-school cake and treats stall was organised in aid of the charity Spring of Hope, with which the school has become closely involved.

The charitable organisation started in 2004 and helps disabled children in rural Ugandan communities, where there is little support for them or their families. For the past year RAB has also been sponsoring two children in Uganda through the charity.

A school spokesman said: “The money raised from the event was to specifically help the charity obtain a new bike to deliver essential medicines and treatments to children in the villages. The children planned and ran the event themselves and it was hugely successful, raising 200 in less than half an hour.

“We re very grateful to parents for baking delicious cakes and treats for the stall and also for buying so enthusiastically on such a baking hot day.”
