AWARD-WINNING photographs taken by Saffron Walden schoolchildren have been made into an eye-catching public exhibition.

The snaps, which were all taken as part of the My Summer photography competition, were unveiled at Saffron Walden Library today (Thursday) and will be on display until December 10.

The competition was organised by Dame Bradbury's School and Claire Moir Photography and was open to children from all the Saffron Walden schools.

The children were asked to send in a photograph that captured their own view of summer and the submitted entries covered a range of subjects from sunflowers to seasides.

"We really enjoyed looking through the competition entries submitted by these budding photographers," said Claire Moir. "The children had really used their imagination and come up with some unique and creative photography - well done!"

Headteacher at Dame Bradbury's, Jane Crouch, said: "We're delighted that the competition worked so well.

"Parents have told us what fun their children had with such a creative project to engage them over the holidays."

The winners in the two categories, under-sevens and eight-to-11 year olds, received digital cameras, kindly donated by Salad Days, Dame Bradbury's School and Claire Moir Photography. The runners-up received books on digital photography, donated by Harts Books.
