LOCAL group Walden in Transition is to continue its current series of events with a talk on the potentially catastrophic effects of the terminal decline in global oil production.

Journalist and film-maker David Strahan is the guest speaker at the event.

He has many years experience of popularising some of the most difficult and important stories in business and science.

For a decade he reported and produced major investigations for BBC television's The Money Programme and Horizon strands. He is now also the author of a provocative book about 'peak oil' called The Last Oil Shock.

Dr Stephen Willoughby from Walden in Transition said: "We are delighted to welcome David Strahan to Saffron Walden and to hear his message about how we have reached a critical state which he regards as more dangerous than terrorism.

"David also explains how we can protect our families from the ravages of the last oil shock."

The talk will be held in the Council Chamber at Uttlesford District Council offices, London Road, Saffron Walden at 8pm on Thursday April 23. Entrance is free.

For more information, see Walden in Transition's website at www.walden-in-transition.org.uk or telephone 01799 501456.
