GLITTERING musical instruments and jitterbug-style dancers are set to entertain the crowds at a 1940s evening - and raise cash for a Debden and Wimbish charity.

The 20-piece Galaxy Big Band, pictured, will be on stage at the Rhodes Centre, Bishop's Stortford, on Saturday February 16, performing songs including Sing Sing Sing, Mack the Knife, Strike Up the Band, and Glenn Miller favourites such as In the Mood and Pennsylvania 6-5000.

Organiser Sheila Abrams said: "We want people to come along and enjoy every minute and a drink or two, so we've arranged coach pick-ups from Saffron Walden, Debden and Wimbish.

"It's going to be an exciting evening, and nostalgic too, as many dancers will be donning fabulous original 1940s outfits."

The event is in aid of Tang Ting Twinning Association, which has already paid for medical supplies and improved child care facilities, but which hopes to fund more sustainable projects.
