Passengers may still face delays from Stansted Airport this evening – despite a problem at the UK air traffic control centre being resolved.

A spokesman for the Uttlesford airport said “everything is back up and running” following a “technical problem” at the Swanwick control centre in Hampshire.

Flights arriving at Stansted were not affected by the problem but departing flights were suspended.

The spokesman added: “There are likely to be some delays throughout the rest of the evening.”

Eurocontrol issued a statement earlier today (Friday) which said: “There has been a failure of the flight data computer server at London ACC [area control centre]. Engineers are working on the problem and more information will be given when available.”
