There were 50 brave bears who took a ride on the Teddy Bear Zip Wire at Sunday’s Littlebury Church Fete.

Crowds turned up at the Church of the Holy Trinity for the event, which despite the dull weather raised £2,500 for church funds.

Church warden Paul Gray said: “The teddies were taken up to the tower in a basket and then went on a 60-metre ride down to a tree. The look on the children’s faces was delightful. They were transfixed. We would like to thank all our helpers and sponsors. This is our main annual fundraiser and a traditional village fete, which is part of the attraction.”

The wet weekend put a dampner on some events in the district but Littlebury stayed dry. Some fetes the previous day had suffered from the rain so that at the end of the day, plants and other unsold items were donated by one fete to another.
