The temporary traffic lights which have caused congestion at peak times in Saffron Walden’s High Street are down to street light repairs.

Many cars were stuck in the High Street traffic this morning, with the timed lights adding to the normal congestion along the route.

The traffic lights were put up yesterday (January 30) as UK Power Networks works to repair a street light fault.

A spokeswoman for UK Power Networks said: “UK Power Networks engineers have been working as quickly and as safely as possible to repair a street light fault in High Street, Saffron Walden.

“The repair has been completed and the excavation will be filled in as soon as possible.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused while these works have taken place.”
