Ten people and two dogs had to be rescued from flats which had flooded in Saffron Walden.
Essex County Fire & Rescue Service control centre has received a large number of calls to flooding incidents in the north-west of the county.
At about 5am crews were called to The Spike on Radwinter Road, Saffron Walden to about 20 flats affected by flood waters.
The service’s boat was sent to assist with rescuing the residents.
Ten people – eight adults and two children – and two dogs were rescued.
