THE BUILD up to a crunch decision for shoppers and businesses in Saffron Walden has begun.
At 11.20am this morning, a chain of six Uttlesford District Council cars made its way up to the hill on Thaxted Road where a huge Sainsbury’s superstore could be built.
The viewing comes hours before the members of UDC’s development control committee will decide whether to allow the retail giant to build in the town and also whether to allow its bitter rival Tesco an extension at its Radwinter Road store.
Both could be refused, both could be accepted, one could be accepted and one denied. Members will be convening a meeting at 1pm, a decision is expected shortly after.
