Morris men from all over the world descended on Thaxted over the weekend to participate in the town’s annual Morris Festival.
Troupes from as far apart as Australia and Denmark came to join 18 UK Morris groups performing in Thaxted and the surrounding villages.
Denmark’s Silkeborg Morris Team returned to the event for the fourth time whilst the Perth team made the journey to receive the Morris Ring staff of office which was presented in a traditional ceremony.
Ian Anderson, treasurer and member of Thaxted Morris group, said: “The day was superb and the atmosphere was great. At the end of the final dance there was a lot of clapping and cheering.”
Hundreds of people came to watch the groups perform their interpretations of traditional dances and relive a small part of English history.
