THAXTED Guildhall was transformed into an array of colour at the weekend as the town’s flower club celebrated 20 years.
About 150 people visited the exhibition, which included displays by 19 club members. The theme of the event was ‘Celebrations’ and saw displays such as Diamond and Golden wedding anniversaries, St Patrick’s Day and Valentine’s Day.
Secretary Margaret Caton said: “The event went really well and it was nice to get many visitors. We decided to hold it in the Guildhall because that is where our first ever meeting was held.
“We enjoyed a Pate and Pimms preview party on the Friday evening which attracted about 45 people and assisted in the running of the event itself.
Thaxted Flower Club has 35 members. The club has previously won gold medals at the Chelsea and Essex flower shows.
Members meet on the first Tuesday of the month at the Thaxted Centre for the Disabled in Dunmow Road. Meetings, which include a visiting demonstration, are open to members of the public. For more information call Mrs Caton on 01371 830751.
