A Thaxted resident has won over £3,000 in the superdraw run by the Flight for Life lottery team at Essex Air Ambulance.

Glyn Cockaday, who joined the Flight for Life Lottery in January, was presented with a cheque for £3,310.88 by lottery manager Janice Flower at his home, last week.

Speaking about his win, Mr Cockaday said: “I was stunned when I received the call to tell me I had won the jackpot. I very rarely win anything and so it did come as quite a shock but I feel very lucky to have won.

“I think everybody should support the air ambulance for just a few pounds a week as it is so important. It is not until something has happened to you or a loved one that you realise just how important the service is.

“We have several grand-children and so some of the winnings will be spent on Christmas presents for the family, plus we shall be putting some away for a rainy day.”

Ms Flower said: “We are delighted for Mr Cockaday.
