Health worker Vince Slater has proved he’s the quickest at general knowledge by winning this season of Heart Breakfast’s Big Town Showdown.
Vince represented his home in Thaxted on radio presenters Martin and Su’s daily quiz and answered the 10 questions in 47 seconds - the quickest time in the competition’s two-year history.
He topped the leaderboard of more than 60 competitors during the spring season of the quiz.
Vince was surprised at his home in Town Street today (Thursday) by an early morning visit from Heart Breakfast producer Alex Williamson, the Heart Angels, the Easter bunny and Thaxted Morris dancers, which was broadcast live on the radio.
He was given a host of prizes including a DAB radio and a hamper of Easter eggs.
Vince said: “I was really pleased to win the Big Town Showdown and prove that Thaxted is top of the towns in Essex.”
Heart Breakfast presenter Martin Day added: “Vince did Thaxted proud – he has set a high bar for future contestants.”
Big Town Showdown returns for its summer season on Monday, April 4.
