SAFFRON Walden went bananas at the weekend.
Abbey Lane URC hosted a series of events in support of the Fairtrade Foundation, which is looking to raise awareness of a campaign to increase the number of fair-trade bananas brought into the UK.
More than 100 people joined 387,000 nationally in setting a new world record for the number of fair-trade bananas eaten in a 24-hour period.
SWYPE youth club held a 'bananas in pyjamas party', the Saturday Club learnt about fair-trade and in the Salvation Army hall a variety of banana cakes were enjoyed with a cup of coffee.
