FINE foods and delicious drinks were on sale in the summer sunshine at the Saffron Walden Food Fair on Saturday.

The event, held on The Common and organised by the Saffron Walden Initiative, saw traders from across the region descend on the town to sell their wares, including preserves, and organic fruit and vegetables.

Organising committee chairman Peter Riding said: "This was the first time such an event has been attempted by the Saffron Walden Initiative and it was a resounding success. We lost count of the number of people who visited the fair, but it must have run into thousands."

The event was so successful many traders sold out early and had to get replacement stock.
