Teams from Saffron Building Society raised over £3,000 for charity with a daring white water rafting event.

Held at the Olympic course at Lee Valley, two teams of nine colleagues took part, for Help for Heroes, Dementia UK and Melanoma UK.

Sara Andrews, business partner, said: “The event was a huge success, enjoyed by participants and spectators alike. We raised £3,138 pounds for the three charities, chosen by the people who took part.”

Holly Woods, marketing manager, one of the night’s winning rafting team, The Aquaholics, said: “It was a great event. It was a wet and wild race against the clock and my team was delighted to not only win but also help raise so much money for charity. We would like to congratulate our opponents, the Wave Runners, for providing such tough competition in both the fundraising and the rafting..”

Other fundraising activities were held at the company’s call centre and branches across the region. These included a treasure hunt, colouring competitions and a nautical dress-down day. These funds were added to the sponsorship for the rafting.
